Music, food, culture and family fun are the main ingredients for the Umoja Fest Africatown Festival & Parade! Held in historic Africatown-Central District, home to the city’s musical legacy ranging from jazz to hip hop, the festival features 3 days of attractions.
With the Africatown Heritage Parade, Children’s Day & Family Fun Village, three stages of live music, Heal The Hood Basketball Tournament, cuisine sampling the African diaspora, marketplace, the community resource fair, and so much more, you won't want to miss it!
A Seafair sanctioned event, the Umoja Festival and Parade has been a Seattle tradition for over six decades. Coined the “Soul of Seafair” the Umoja Festival is the largest outdoor celebration of African American contributions and culture in the Pacific Northwest. The word Umoja is a Swahili word which means "unity" which is the main theme of the festival. An artistic and cultural extravaganza that uniquely touches the spirit of the community, the UmojaFest has historically been the most unifying celebration in the community, bringing people of all ethnic backgrounds together for a celebration of culture, education, social festivities and networking.
