Affordable Housing Alert - Jackson Heights (23rd & Jackson)

  • By

Jackson Heights Affordable Housing Development has started the lease up process and they are seeking those in our community that either lived in the Central District before the year 2000 or had a family member (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters) that lived in the Central District before the year 2000.

Jackson Heights is using a lottery for their applicant selection process. There will be two lotteries, the first will be the Neighborhood Preference Lottery (those that have historical ties to the Central District) and the second being a general lottery. To qualify for the Neighborhood Preference Lottery, you must submit a document that proves you or a family members ties to the Central District before the year 2000. A list of acceptable documents can be found at www.JHeights.org.  You do not have to have the document to enter the lottery but if selected you will need to submit the document at that time or you will be disqualified. Those who participate in the Neighborhood Preference Lottery and are not selected will automatically be entered to the general lottery as well.

This is a great opportunity for those that have been displaced from the Central District due to gentrification and rising rents but want to return.
