“The Lease Up” highlights Liberty Bank Building’s Success

Africatown Community Land Trust today announced the launch of a podcast series entitled “The Lease Up”, which  focuses on affordable housing in the Seattle area. The first series of episodes will highlight the new Liberty Bank Building development which will open its doors in early 2019.

The historic Liberty Bank Building boats 115 affordable housing units and is a partnership between the Africatown Community Land Trust, Capitol Hill Housing, Byrd Barr Place, and the Black Community Impact Alliance. The term “lease up” is used when a building starts the process of signing leases.
The first episode of The Lease Up was released earlier this week and features Africatown Community Land Trust Board Member, Sherry Collier, who explains to listeners what a community land trust is and the role the ACLT played in the Liberty Bank Building.

Future episodes will feature interviews from community leaders and historians, development partners, as well as future tenants and business owners that are moving into the building. The Lease Up will also offer advice and resources for those seeking affordable housing options.
